Debra’s approach combines intuition, experience, and the skills of over 50 master practitioners, allowing clients to experience profound personal shifts. Her book, The Journey to Happy, shares the principles that transformed her own life and continues to inspire thousands worldwide.
Q: Debra, can you share what motivated you to leave your legal career and start Sedona Soul Adventures?
A: After 20 years as a divorce attorney, I was completely burned out. My marriage was unhappy, I was overweight, and financially, I was in debt. A trip to Sedona in 1999 was intended to be just a brief retreat, but it became a turning point. I experienced a moment of clarity and realized I had to leave my law practice to save my life and my well-being. That decision led me to create a business that aligned with my true purpose.
Q: How did your personal transformation influence the retreats you offer?
A: Everything I do stems from my own journey. I understand the struggle of feeling stuck, burned out, and unfulfilled. That empathy allows us to design retreats that are deeply personal, guided by intuition, and tailored to each individual or couple. The retreats combine spiritual practices, emotional healing, and practical tools to help clients uncover their path forward.
Q: What makes Sedona Soul Adventures unique in the wellness and travel industry?
A: Our approach is highly personalized. We work with over 50 master practitioners in Sedona, each skilled in specific areas, so we can craft experiences that meet the exact needs of our clients. Whether someone seeks emotional healing, spiritual growth, or clarity in their lives or relationships, our retreats are designed to create meaningful, lasting change.
Q: Could you describe a particularly memorable transformation you’ve witnessed?
A: One of the most powerful moments is seeing couples who were on the brink of separation reconnect in ways they never thought possible. I recall a couple who came to us feeling disconnected and resentful. Through their retreat, they opened up, addressed their fears, and left with renewed love and understanding. Moments like that reinforce why I do this work.
Q: What role does intuition play in your work?
A: Intuition is central. When we design the retreats, we trust my instincts to determine which, listening deeply, and allowing the process to unfold naturally. Over time, I’ve learned that the best transformations happen when you follow your heart rather than rigidly sticking to a plan.
Q: How do you approach challenges in your business?
A: Challenges are inevitable, but I view them as opportunities to grow. Every setback has taught me something valuable about myself, my team, and my clients. I focus on solutions rather than problems and try to maintain a sense of humor and perspective. That mindset has helped me navigate both personal and professional hurdles.
Q: Your book, The Journey to Happy, shares your life transformation. What is the core message you hope readers take away?
A: The main message is that nothing is inherently wrong with your life – that everything is happening in divine order for your highest and best good. By embracing this idea, you open yourself to change and growth. You don’t have to force yourself into a certain mold or follow someone else’s blueprint. Happiness is possible when you trust yourself and allow transformation to happen naturally.
Q: How has your approach evolved over the years?
A: Initially, I focused on my own growth and healing. As my work expanded, I realized that creating an environment where others feel safe, supported, and empowered is just as important. Today, it’s about combining my personal experience with a professional network of practitioners to create a holistic, transformative experience.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a major life change?
A: Trust your instincts and don’t be afraid to take bold steps. Life can feel overwhelming, but when you listen to yourself and take deliberate action, transformation is possible. You don’t have to have everything figured out—clarity often comes after taking the first step.
Q: Looking forward, what are your hopes for Sedona Soul Adventures?
A: I hope to continue expanding our reach so more people can experience deep personal transformation. We also aim to explore new destinations and offer retreats that honor different cultural practices, while keeping the essence of Sedona’s spiritual energy. My husband (Richard Kepple) and I have written a book “High-Vibe Relationships” which will come out in 2026 Ultimately, my our goal is to help as many people as possible discover joy, purpose, and connection in their lives.
