Let’s start with your journey. Can you tell us how you began and what led you to your current leadership role?
My journey has been anything but linear. I started in medicine in my early twenties, but I realised quite quickly that I did not align with how the system operated. That decision to step away was a turning point for me.

I then moved into the ICT space, where I gradually found my way into data centres. That is where everything came together. It is a space that sits at the core of digital transformation, yet it has not always focused enough on sustainability or efficiency.

Starting GTSS was about addressing that gap. I wanted to build something meaningful, not just commercially successful, but something that improves how infrastructure is designed and operated across Africa.

What has motivated you to keep moving forward, and which values guide your leadership today?
What drives me is a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. Once you see where improvements can be made, it becomes difficult to ignore them.

I lead with honesty, accountability, and resilience. I believe in doing what you commit to, even when it becomes challenging. Transparency is also very important to me. My team always knows where we stand.

I also focus a lot on developing people. Leadership, in my view, is not about control. It is about enabling others to grow and take ownership.

Every journey comes with challenges. Can you share a defining moment in your career and how you overcame it?
Starting GTSS was the most defining and challenging moment for me. Building something from the ground up in a highly technical and male-dominated industry brought a lot of pressure. There were times when things felt uncertain across every level, from financial to operational.

What helped me move forward was staying focused on the bigger picture. I learned not to get overwhelmed by short-term discomfort. I also realised the importance of building strong relationships with the right people. Success is never achieved alone.

How do you foster innovation and collaboration within your organisation?
It starts with creating an environment where people feel comfortable speaking up. Innovation comes from open conversations, not hierarchy. I encourage my team to challenge ideas and think beyond what has already been done.

On collaboration, alignment is key. When everyone understands the bigger goal, working together becomes natural. I also take a hands-on approach. I work alongside my team, which helps build trust and keeps communication open.

What traits set top-performing leaders apart from others?
Consistency is one of the most important traits. It is easy to lead when things are going well, but real leadership shows during difficult times.

Clarity is another key factor. Leaders must be able to make decisions and communicate them clearly.

Resilience is equally important. Challenges are inevitable, but the ability to stay grounded and keep moving forward makes a real difference.

How have mentorship and learning influenced your growth, and how do you encourage this within your team?
Mentorship has played a significant role in my journey. I have learned a lot from people around me, often in informal ways, simply by staying open and willing to listen.

Within our team, we try to create a culture of continuous learning. We encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration. No one is expected to have all the answers, but everyone is expected to grow and improve.

How do you keep your organisation agile in a constantly changing market?
We stay very close to our clients. That is essential. The data centre industry is evolving rapidly, especially with the rise of AI and increasing sustainability demands.

We take a flexible approach. While we have structured processes in place, we are not rigid. If something needs to change, we adapt quickly and move forward with clarity.

Is there a lesson that has significantly shaped your leadership style?
One of the most important lessons I have learned is that you cannot control everything, but you can control how you respond.

Earlier in my career, unexpected situations or challenges would affect me more. Over time, I have learned to focus on solutions rather than emotions. That shift has made me a more effective leader.

What advice would you give to emerging leaders who want to make a meaningful impact?
Do not wait until you feel ready, because that moment rarely comes. Start where you are and build from there.

Be clear about your values. The industry will challenge you in many ways, and without a strong foundation, it is easy to lose direction.

Also, invest in relationships. Building a strong network is more important than many people realise.

Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future?
What excites me most is the opportunity to shape how data centres evolve across Africa. There is strong growth, and with that comes the chance to build infrastructure that is both scalable and sustainable from the beginning.

For GTSS, I am excited about expanding our reach and continuing to enhance our 3DCIM solution so it can deliver greater impact across multiple regions.

More broadly, I am encouraged by the potential for stronger collaboration within the industry. There is a lot of talent, and when aligned, it can drive meaningful progress.
